A high protein low carb diet helps people lose weight

from:

A high protein low carb diet is currently a popular way for people to lose weight and keep it off. A high protein low carb diet is very simple in that it consists of eating more protein and less carbohydrates. This type of diet is typically used by people who are looking to increase their muscle mass, get toned and/or lose some weight.

If you’re considering starting a high protein low carb diet you should consult your physician. And, you should also learn more about carbohydrates and protein.

A high protein low carb diet is a diet plan that ensures the amount of carbs consumed is limited and the amount of protein consumed is maximized. Many people follow on a no white food restriction, meaning that they do not consume sugars, white flour, white rice or potatoes. And while they limit the number of carbohydrates or sugars they consume, they increase the amount of proteins they consume. The body uses protein constantly, so it is important that people have enough protein in their diet. And those considering a high protein low carb diet will need even more.

The amount of protein that an average person needs varies depending on their age, size and activity level. A person who is looking to build muscle mass and increase their fitness level may want to consider a high protein low carb diet. People who engage in endurance exercise or heavy resistive exercise can benefit from adding additional protein to their diets.

For the average person, 10 to 20 per cent of caloric intake can be calories from protein. This is an estimate of the minimum number of calories a person needs to stay healthy and a person on a high protein low carb diet will need more. The more calories a person needs to stay healthy, the more protein they will need also. However, people who are dieting should not reduce their protein intake to the amount of reduced calories they are ingesting.

Ingesting too much protein can be harmful to the kidneys or to people who have kidney disease. And, increased protein can be helpful in treating obesity. If you’re considering beginning a high protein low carb diet, consult your doctor about your health and the advisability of reducing the amount of carbohydrates you ingest and increasing the amount of protein you ingest on a daily basis. If all is well, a high protein low carb diet can be an excellent way to meet your weight and fitness goals.
