The Combination Diet Program The Beverly Hills Diet
from:The New Beverly Hills Diet is a combination diet program about eating the right foods at the right time. The theory behind this diet is that it’s not what or how much an individual eats, but instead what they eat together and when they it. In this combination diet program proteins go with proteins and fat, carbohydrates go with carbohydrates and fat, and fruit is eaten by itself.
The daily eating regimen for this combination diet program is a process. Individuals start the day by eating fruit such as strawberries, grapes, or watermelon, as much fruit as they want, the only restrictions are they must wait an hour if they are changing fruits, and they must wait two hours before switching to carbohydrates, fats, or proteins. If carbohydrates are next, an individual can consume as much carbohydrates as they want, but once protein is consumed the individual must then consume eighty percent of protein through the rest of the day. Fruit juices and wine can be substituted for fruit, however most other alcohol is considered to be a carbohydrate with the exception of champagne which is category less. One meal a day can be a mixed meal with carbohydrates and proteins together, but again once protein is consumed the individual has to eat eighty percent protein for the rest of the day.
In order for this combination diet program to be effective, individuals should understand how digesting the different food groups works. Fruits are considered a special carbohydrate and take about fifteen to twenty minutes to digest in the small intestine. All other carbohydrates take about three hours to digest with the process beginning with saliva in the mouth. Proteins can take up to ten hours to digest with the assistance of stomach acid. Fats are almost never digested alone, so it is unknown how long they take to break down. When faster digesting foods get behind slower digesting ones that is when individuals gain weight for example a carbohydrate like a potato gets stuck behind a protein like steak and this leads to poorly digested food because different enzymes break different foods. Therefore it is only when these food categories are mixed that the body does not know how to break it down that individuals gain weight.
Exercise is not an essential part of this combination diet program plan. However, it is recognized that exercise is a part of living a healthy lifestyle. Individuals can expect to lose ten to fifteen pounds in the thirty five day initial phase with this combination diet program.
